About Heather DeMoras Design Consultants

Heather DeMoras Design Consultants (HDDC) in Rochester, N.Y., was founded in 1999 to provide high-quality interior design consulting to architects, developers, corporate end-users and residential clients. We focus on listening to the client’s needs and turning project objectives into reality. Our experience comes from a wide range of projects, which allows us to be creative and functional within the project budget.

Prior to founding the firm, Heather worked in a diverse array of professional settings, including real estate development, a business furniture dealership and interior design and architectural firms. Her education at Syracuse University equipped her with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Interior Design and has given her a lifelong passion for improving the built environment.

Heather is a professional member of the American Society of Interior Designers (ASID), National Council for Interior Design Qualifications (NCIDQ), and is New York State Certified (CID) to practice professionally. Heather DeMoras Design Consultants maintains New York State Woman-Owned Business Enterprise (WBE) status.

In January 2008, Heather’s husband Mathieu DeMoras joined the firm to design architectural interiors and provide technical design assistance. With an extensive background in architecture and a Bachelor of Architecture from Carnegie Mellon, Mat brings additional CAD design and drafting capabilities as well as 3D CAD visualization. Heather and Mat use their synergy to push each residential or commercial project to the highest level of professionalism.

Design Philosophy

First, WE LISTEN. As designers, we don’t walk into a space with a preconceived notion of the final result. We believe a successful project involves teamwork, with client input on goals such as schedule, budget, and aesthetic direction. We take the time to learn which priorities are most important, and we focus on those. By listening first, we feel we can best help you achieve an outstanding result on your project.

Second, WE COMMUNICATE. We synthesize the client’s input into design options that address the priorities. We communicate the design process with straightforward visual tools, to clearly present the emerging design.

Third, WE DELIVER. After our client is satisfied with the design, we provide the appropriate documentation to bring the project to life. If desired, we are available during the construction or installation process to evaluate progress and offer continued guidance.

Listen. Communicate. Deliver. This simple process has yielded outstanding results for our clients in the past.

Many design firms also sell furniture, finishes, and accessories. We do not. Rather than concentrate on retail sales, HDDC chooses to guide our clients to the best products that fit their project goals. In this way, we are able to offer a wider selection of products and help them compare prices or bid on contract furnishings.

We are constantly growing. Over the last 20 years, products, work, and home environments have evolved. Green Design has affected the design of our homes and workplaces. In order to stay up-to-date on products and trends, we regularly attend design shows across the country. We also maintain a well-stocked design and research library.

As designers we don’t claim to have the solution on day one but, with client feedback, our research, and background, we are committed to providing every client with quality design and service.
